Becker Healthcare
An affordable-footcare e-commerce store for Becker Healthcare, built to be found for plain-language product searches and effortless to reorder from on a phone.
The project
Becker Healthcare sells affordable footcare online across the UK: insoles, corn cushions, nail-care tools and protective padding. It is a value brand competing in a category dominated by pharmacy chains and anonymous Amazon listings, and its customers tend to be older, price-conscious and loyal, buying the same few items again and again. We built an e-commerce site that suits exactly that: plain product pages with the price shown up front, a checkout stripped back for quick reorders, and Product and Offer structured data on every SKU so Google understands what each page sells.
The challenge
Becker does not win on brand recognition or on being the cheapest name in the room; it wins on being easy to buy from and easy to trust. The audience skews older and shops in plain terms, typing "corn cushions" or "gel heel cups" rather than a product name, often to replace something they have bought before. The old setup made that harder than it needed to be. The brief was a store that loads fast on an ageing phone, shows the price before you commit, and turns up in search for the everyday product terms people actually use.
What we built
Every product page carries Product and Offer schema, which is what lets Google put a price and availability straight into the result, an edge most small footcare retailers leave on the table. Collections are organised around real complaints and product types rather than catalogue codes, so an unbranded search lands on the right page. The checkout is deliberately short, because the typical Becker order is a reorder, not a considered first purchase. Imagery ships as AVIF with WebP fallbacks so the catalogue stays quick on the mid-range Android phones much of the audience uses.
Key outcomes
- Product and Offer schema on every SKU, so price and availability can surface directly in the search result
- Mobile-first checkout designed around older buyers and repeat reorders, not first-time discovery
- Collection and product pages written around unbranded searches like "corn cushions UK" rather than internal SKU codes
- AVIF and WebP product imagery for a catalogue that stays fast on a mid-range phone
