Noise-x
A clean, reassuring brochure site for Noise-x, a Watford earplug manufacturer, organised around why people need plugs rather than what each product is called.
The project
Noise-x has manufactured hearing-protection earplugs from its Watford base since 2005: foam bullet plugs, silicone plugs, wax plugs and specialist swimmers' plugs for adults and children, all made in Europe and stocked by pharmacies including Lloyds Pharmacy as well as on Amazon. The challenge with a product range like this is that customers rarely know what they want by name; they know their problem, they cannot sleep, they are flying, they swim, the workshop is too loud. So we built the site around those situations rather than the product codes, guiding people to the right plug and then to where they can buy it.
The challenge
Noise-x sells a considered but low-cost product to people who are not experts in it. A shopper does not search for "22dB tapered foam plug"; they search for "earplugs for sleeping" or "swimming ear protection for kids". A manufacturer that also sells through pharmacies and Amazon needs a site that educates a first-time buyer, builds enough trust to justify choosing Noise-x over a supermarket own-brand, and points people to a stockist, all without the friction of running its own checkout.
What we built
The navigation is built around real situations, sleep, travel, swimming and noise at work, so a customer who does not know the product names still finds the right plug fast. Product information is written to reassure rather than to bury people in specifications, and every product carries structured data so it is eligible for rich results in search. Because the business sells through retail and pharmacy partners, the site surfaces stockist information clearly and reinforces the made-in-Europe, established-since-2005 credentials that separate Noise-x from anonymous marketplace sellers.
Key outcomes
- Use-case navigation (sleep, travel, swimming, work) that matches how customers actually describe their need
- Clear, reassuring product information with structured data for rich results in search
- Stockist details that surface the pharmacy and retail partners where people can buy, supporting the wholesale side of the business
